Explore Oaxaca’s market, prepare traditional dishes, and share a generous meal in this hands-on four-and-a-half-hour cooking class.

“Market walk was nice, it was not what I was expecting for a cooking class. Felt rushed as lots of stuff was prepared by staff and cooked by staff. Maybe 45% of the cooking was done by us. The table we ate at was beautiful but I was hoping to really go from 0-100 cooking the authentic meal. In hindsight I would go for a more expensive, longer class for a more full experience. Oscar is very nice and the staff were friendly. Just not what I was hoping.”

“Alicia was an excellent guide, helped answer all our food questions and we tasted many many things. The market tour was great to do early in the trip so you can then shop knowing what is what. I would recommend to just taste the juice because drinking the whole thing you'll be too full for all the food yet to come.”

“Foodie walking tours are my favorite in any part of the world and this one did not disappoint. It works because Betsy is an energetic bundle of information and kindness, and because the Oaxacan markets are fabulous. Come on an empty stomach, wear good walking shoes and prepare for a fabulous day. The other unexpected delight was that everyone in our group was so lovely. It made for fun chatting over ants and grasshoppers! There may be other foodie walking tours in Oaxaca but hard to image they can beat Betsy’s!”
